How to Use This Calculator

This calculator helps you figure out the best jewels to socket into your pet. Here's the quick walkthrough:

  1. Pick your build type — Triple Double, Quint Damage, Healer, Tank, or Hybrid. This helps the calculator recommend the right jewels.
  2. Select PvP or PvE — some jewels matter more in one mode than the other.
  3. Choose a jewel for each socket. Your pet has up to 4 sockets (depending on level). Pick a jewel for each one from the dropdowns.
  4. Hit "Analyze Jewels" and you'll see the total stat boost from all socketed jewels, a breakdown of each jewel's contribution, and a recommendation on whether your setup is optimal for your build.
💡 Before You Socket: Make sure your pet's base talents are finalized first. Jewels are the icing on the cake — they add to what you've already built. Use our Pet Talent Calculator to plan talents, then come back here to optimize jewels.

What Are Pet Jewels?

Pet jewels are special items you can socket into your pet to give it bonus stats and abilities on top of its existing talents. Think of them like extra gear slots specifically for your pet. They were introduced to give players more customization options beyond just talents and stats.

Each jewel provides a specific bonus — it might add damage, resist, accuracy, critical, health, or even a talent-like ability. The bonus from jewels stacks with your pet's existing talents and stats, so a well-jeweled pet performs noticeably better than an un-jeweled one.

Your pet unlocks jewel sockets as it grows. A Mega pet has access to all available sockets, which is another reason to train your pet to at least Mega before worrying about jewels.

📌 Key Point: Jewels are separate from talents. They don't take up talent slots and they don't affect pedigree. They're a completely independent layer of customization. Even a pet with 5 perfect talents can be made stronger by socketing the right jewels.

Socket Types Explained

There are four types of jewel sockets, each accepting a specific shape of jewel:

SocketShapeWhat Jewels FitBest Used For
🔴 CircleRoundDamage jewels, offensive boostsBoosting outgoing damage
🔷 SquareSquareResist jewels, defensive boostsBoosting resist and survivability
🔺 TriangleTriangleUtility jewels (accuracy, critical, pip)Filling stat gaps
💧 TearTeardropTalent jewels (adds a bonus talent)Adding abilities your pet doesn't have

The socket type determines which category of jewels you can use. You can't put a damage jewel in a square socket — it simply won't fit. This means your socketing choices are partly determined by which socket types your pet has available.

Jewel Tiers & Stat Boosts

Jewels come in tiers, just like snacks and talents. Higher-tier jewels give bigger stat boosts:

TierDamage JewelResist JewelHow to Get
Tier 1 (Basic)+1% damage+1% resistCrafting, low-level drops
Tier 2+2% damage+2% resistMid-level crafting and drops
Tier 3+3% damage+3% resistEndgame crafting, boss drops
Tier 4 (Best)+4% damage+3% resistRare drops, special events

The difference between Tier 1 and Tier 4 is significant. A Tier 4 damage jewel gives four times the boost of a Tier 1. Always aim for the highest tier jewels available to you.

Best Jewels for PvP vs PvE

PvP Jewel Setup

In PvP, you need a balance of offense and defense. The recommended jewel setup for a Triple Double pet:

  • Circle socket: Universal damage jewel (+3-4% damage)
  • Square socket: Universal resist jewel (+3% resist)
  • Triangle socket: Critical block or pip conversion jewel
  • Tear socket: May-Cast talent jewel (MC Shield or MC Heal)

PvE Jewel Setup

In PvE, you just want to hit as hard as possible:

  • Circle socket: Universal or school-specific damage jewel (+3-4%)
  • Square socket: Damage jewel if available, or health boost
  • Triangle socket: Accuracy or critical jewel
  • Tear socket: Damage talent jewel or MC Blade
⚠️ Don't Waste Sockets: An empty socket is wasted potential. Even a Tier 1 jewel is better than an empty slot. Socket something now and upgrade later when you get better jewels.

Where to Get the Best Jewels

The best pet jewels come from a few sources:

  • Crafting: Jewel crafting recipes are available from vendors in later worlds. You need specific reagents, but crafting gives you control over which jewel you make. This is the most reliable method.
  • Boss drops: Endgame bosses (Tartarus, Darkmoor, Empyrea) drop Tier 3-4 jewels. Random drops but can be very powerful.
  • Fishing: Some high-rank fish give jewels as rewards. Not the most efficient method but a nice bonus if you fish anyway.
  • Events: Special in-game events and promotions sometimes give out exclusive pet jewels. Keep an eye on event rewards.
💡 Crafting Is Best: For most players, crafting is the most reliable way to get exactly the jewel you need. Level up your crafting skill and learn jewel recipes from vendors in Celestia and beyond. The reagent costs are reasonable once you know where to farm them.

Common Jewel Mistakes

  1. Leaving sockets empty. Even a weak jewel is better than nothing. Socket your pet as soon as you can, then upgrade later.
  2. Using school-specific jewels when universal works better. A universal damage jewel boosts all your spells. A fire-specific jewel only helps fire spells. Unless you exclusively cast one school, universal is usually better.
  3. Socketing before finalizing talents. Get your 5-6 talents right first, then add jewels. Jewels complement talents — they shouldn't replace them.
  4. Ignoring the tear socket. The tear socket can add a bonus talent to your pet. This is essentially a free 7th talent slot. Don't overlook it.
  5. Using Tier 1 jewels endgame. If you're level 130+, you should be using Tier 3-4 jewels. Tier 1 jewels give almost no benefit at high levels. Craft or farm better ones.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, you can remove jewels from your pet's sockets. However, removing a jewel destroys it — you don't get it back. So make sure you only remove a jewel when you have a better replacement ready. This also means you should avoid socketing expensive jewels unless you're sure about your setup.
Yes! Jewel bonuses are completely separate from talent bonuses and they stack additively. If your pet's Pain-Giver talent gives +6% damage and your circle jewel gives +3% damage, you'll have +9% total damage from your pet. This is why jewels are so valuable — they add on top of everything else.
A pet can have up to 4 jewel sockets. The exact number and types of sockets your pet has depends on its species and level. Most Mega-level pets have 3-4 sockets available. Check your pet's jewel page in-game to see exactly which sockets it has.
For a Triple Double pet in PvP, the best combination is: a universal damage jewel in the circle socket, a universal resist jewel in the square socket, a critical block or pip jewel in the triangle socket, and a may-cast talent jewel in the tear socket. This complements the 3-damage-2-resist talent setup perfectly.
School-specific jewels (like "Fire Damage +4%") sometimes give a slightly higher boost than universal jewels, but they only apply to one school's spells. Universal jewels (+3% all damage) work with every spell you cast. For most players, universal is the safer and more versatile choice. Only use school-specific if you exclusively cast one school's spells.
No. Jewels provide wizard-facing bonuses (damage%, resist%, accuracy%) that apply to your wizard in battle. They don't change your pet's internal stats like Strength, Intellect, or Will. Those internal stats only change through training and are determined by the pet's species. Jewels are a completely separate bonus layer.
