Wizard101 Pet Calculator (2026)

Quick answer

A Wizard101 pet calculator plans a pet from Baby to Ultra in one view. Pick the stage, add XP earned and the five stats. It shows talents so far, the jewel socket that opens at Ancient, and the XP left to Mega (4,075 in total) and Ultra (6,325). Stats are compared with the 1,275 max.

How to Use the Wizard101 Pet Calculator

  1. Pick your pet's current stage, from Baby to Ultra, as it shows on the pet page.
  2. Enter the XP earned in this stage. This is the XP since the last level-up. Leave it at 0 if you just leveled or are not sure.
  3. Type the five stats: Strength, Intellect, Agility, Will and Power. The plan updates as you type, and the verdict sums it up.

Here is what each result means:

ResultWhat it means
XP left to MegaTraining XP still needed to reach Mega, the stage where the fifth and last talent arrives.
Next stageThe next age and the XP left to reach it.
XP left to UltraTraining XP still needed to reach Ultra, the final stage.
Talents so farHow many of the 5 talents the pet has gained at its stage.
Jewel socketWhether the one pet jewel socket is open yet. It opens at Ancient.
Stats vs maxYour stat total against the 1,275 max, as a percent.

What Is a Wizard101 Pet Calculator?

A Wizard101 pet calculator is a planner that tells you where a pet stands in its training and what is left. It joins four checks in one place: stage, talents, jewel socket and XP. It adds a short stats line so you can judge the pet as a whole.

It helps any wizard who trains pets, from a first Wizard City pet to a hatch you plan to keep. Use it before a long training run, when you pick which pet to finish first, or when you want to know how far away Mega really is.

This page is not a stat projector and not a talent odds tool. To see how stats may grow from one stage to the next, use the Wizard101 pet stat calculator. For a fast yes or no on whether a pet is maxed, use the Pet Stat Check.

How Does the Pet Calculator Work?

The calculator adds the XP needed for every stage up to yours, adds the XP you have earned in this stage, and subtracts that from the Mega and Ultra totals. The stage also sets the talent count and the jewel socket.

Formula: XP left to Mega = 4,075 - (XP to reach your stage + XP earned in this stage)
  1. Look up the XP needed to reach your stage on the ladder below.
  2. Add the XP you earned since the last level-up.
  3. Subtract that from 4,075 for Mega, or from 6,325 for Ultra.
  4. Read the talents and jewel socket from the same row of the ladder.

The XP steps and the talent rule come from Final Bastion's beginner pet guide. The max stats come from Ravenwood Academy's pet training guide.

Wizard101 Pet Plan Example

Say your pet just reached Adult, so it has earned 0 XP in this stage. Its stats are Strength 240, Intellect 230, Agility 250, Will 245 and Power 235.

XP: reaching Adult took 375 XP in total. XP left to Mega = 4,075 - 375 = 3,700. XP left to Ultra = 6,325 - 375 = 5,950. The next stage is Ancient, 900 - 375 = 525 XP away.

Talents and jewel: an Adult has 2 of its 5 talents. The jewel socket opens at Ancient, the very next stage.

Stats: the total is 240 + 230 + 250 + 245 + 235 = 1,200, which is 94.1% of 1,275. The biggest gap is Intellect, 20 below max.

Meaning: this is a strong Adult pet with three talents still to come. The next 525 XP brings a third talent and the jewel socket together.

Factors That Change Your Pet Plan

Four inputs move the plan. The ladder itself stays fixed.

Current Stage

The stage sets the talent count, the jewel socket and most of the XP total. Moving from Epic to Mega is the biggest single step before Ultra, at 2,125 XP.

XP Earned in This Stage

Partial XP matters most in the late stages. 1,000 XP into Mega still leaves 1,250 XP to Ultra. Leaving this at 0 gives the worst case for your stage.

Snack XP per Session

Final Bastion says the best snacks give 50 to 60 XP. A preferred snack adds +1 XP for a partial match or +2 XP for a full match. So the snacks you feed decide how many sessions the XP gap takes. The pet leveling cost calculator turns that gap into sessions and cost.

Stats and the Jewel Slot

Stats do not change the XP plan, but they change how good the finished pet is. A selfish stat jewel adds +65 to one stat, per Ravenwood Academy. The pet jewel calculator shows that stat against its max.

Use this planner for the training path. Use the other two when the stats are the only thing you want to judge.

When to Use the Pet Planner

Before a Long Training Run

Check the XP gap first. 3,700 XP to Mega from a fresh Adult is a very different job from 250 XP to finish Teen.

Choosing Which Pet to Finish

Run two or three pets and compare them. A pet close to Mega needs the least XP to finish, and near-max stats make it worth the effort.

Planning the Jewel

Before Ancient, the socket is not open yet. Once the pet reaches Ancient, you can plan which star jewel to use.

Common Pet Planning Mistakes

1. Counting a Talent at Ultra

A pet gains a talent at each level-up from Teen to Mega, then none at Ultra. Five talents is the full set.

2. Expecting the Jewel Socket at Ultra

The single jewel socket opens at Ancient, not at the end of training.

3. Entering Total XP as Stage XP

The XP box wants only the XP since the last level-up. A lifetime total will trigger the too-much-XP warning.

4. Judging a Pet by Stats Alone

Stats show how strong the pet is, but the talents it gains decide what it does. Plan both.

5. Mixing Up Stages

Ancient comes before Epic. Choosing the wrong stage shifts every XP figure.

Accuracy and Limitations

The arithmetic is exact, and the ladder uses published fan-guide numbers. The plan is only as good as the stage, XP and stats you enter.

What it calculates accurately

  • XP left to the next stage, to Mega and to Ultra, from the published XP steps
  • Talents gained so far under the one-per-level-up rule
  • Whether the Ancient jewel socket is open
  • Stat total and percent of the 1,275 max

What it does not account for

  • Which talents your pet will manifest, since they come by chance from its talent pool
  • How strong each talent will be, since we did not verify a talent formula
  • Future game updates that change XP steps or caps
  • Stat growth by stage (see the stat calculator for our labelled estimate)

How We Calculate the Pet Plan

Method
Adds the cumulative XP to your stage and the XP earned in it, then subtracts from the Mega (4,075) and Ultra (6,325) totals. Reads talents and jewel status from the stage.
Inputs used
Current stage, XP earned in this stage, and the five stats.
Assumptions
XP steps 125, 250, 525, 1,050, 2,125 and 2,250; one talent per level-up from Teen to Mega and none at Ultra; one jewel socket at Ancient; max stats 255, 250, 260, 260 and 250.
Rounding
XP and stats as whole numbers; percent of max to one decimal.
Edge cases
Negative values are blocked. Stage XP at or above the next step asks you to pick the next stage. At Ultra, stage XP is ignored and both XP results show 0.
Verdict
Near-max stats at 97% of 1,275 or more, strong at 90% or more, otherwise well below max. These bands are our planning guide, not game rules.

Frequently Asked Questions About Wizard101 Pet Planning

How much XP does a Wizard101 pet need to reach Mega?

A pet needs 4,075 XP in total to go from Baby to Mega. The steps are 125, 250, 525, 1,050 and 2,125 XP.

How much XP is it from Mega to Ultra?

Mega to Ultra takes 2,250 XP, so a pet needs 6,325 XP in total from Baby to Ultra.

How many talents does a pet have at each stage?

A Teen has 1 talent, an Adult 2, an Ancient 3, an Epic 4 and a Mega 5. A Baby has none, and Ultra adds no new talent.

When does my pet get its jewel socket?

Your pet gains one jewel socket at Ancient. It is a single socket for a star jewel.

Is it worth training a pet all the way to Ultra?

That depends on your goal. Ultra takes 2,250 more XP and adds no new talent, because the talent set is already complete at Mega.

What should a beginner plan first?

Plan the talents you want, then check the XP gap to Mega here. Our guide to the best Wizard101 pets by school helps with the talent goal.

Why does the tool say I entered too much XP?

The XP box is for the current stage only. If the number is at or above that stage's step, the pet has already moved up, so pick the next stage.

How many training sessions will my pet need?

It depends on the snacks. If every session gave 50 to 60 XP, 4,075 XP would take roughly 68 to 82 sessions from Baby to Mega.

Can this tool predict which talents my pet will get?

No. Talents come by chance from the pet's talent pool, so the tool only counts how many talents the stage allows.

Is my pet plan saved anywhere?

No. It runs in your browser. The Save button keeps a copy only in this browser, and nothing is sent to us.
