Games per energy bar equal your max energy divided by the energy per pet game, rounded down. Ravenwood Academy lists 4 energy per game for a Teen, 8 for an Adult and 14 for an Ultra. A 100-energy globe gives 12 Adult games per bar. An Energy Elixir adds one more full bar at once.

How to Use the Pet Energy Calculator
This calculator plans your energy, not your pet. It tells you how many training games you can play now, and when you can play again.
- Type your current energy. Then type your max energy from the globe, or enter your wizard level and gear bonus for an estimate.
- Pick your pet stage. Teen, Adult and Ultra costs are filled in. For another stage, pick Other and type the cost your game shows.
- Choose free or member, and whether you will drink an Energy Elixir. Read the games, the refill time and the verdict.
| Result | What it means |
|---|---|
| Training games this session | Games your current energy pays for, plus one full bar more if you drink an elixir. |
| Games per full bar | Max energy divided by energy per game, rounded down. This is your budget per refill. |
| Max energy | Your globe maximum. It shows (est.) when it comes from the level table. |
| Energy left after | Energy that is too little for one more game at this stage. |
| Full refill in | Estimated time to refill from what is left, at this page's assumed regen rate. |
| Next game in | Estimated wait until you have enough energy for one more game. |
| Games per day from regen | Estimated games that one day of regeneration pays for at this stage. |
What Is an Energy Budget for Pet Training?
An energy budget is the number of pet training games your energy can pay for, now and over time. Every pet game costs energy, and the cost rises as the pet grows.
Ravenwood Academy gives three costs: 4 energy per game at Teen, 8 at Adult and 14 at Ultra. It does not list Baby, Ancient, Epic or Mega. So the calculator fills in those three and asks you for the rest.
| Pet stage | Energy per game | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Teen | 4 | Ravenwood Academy |
| Adult | 8 | Ravenwood Academy |
| Ultra | 14 | Ravenwood Academy |
| Baby, Ancient, Epic, Mega | Not listed | Enter your in-game cost |
This page answers "how much can I play today?" For how many games a whole stage takes, use the leveling cost page in the related tools. For pets worth that energy, see our guide to the best Wizard101 pets by school.
How Does the Energy Calculator Work?
The calculator divides energy by the cost per game and rounds down, because you cannot play part of a game. Refill times then use an estimated regen rate.
Games now = floor(current energy / energy per game)Games per bar = floor(max energy / energy per game)Refill time = (max energy - energy left) x minutes per energy point- Set the max energy: your globe value, or the level estimate below plus your gear bonus.
- Divide current energy by the cost per game and round down for the games you can play now.
- If you drink an elixir, the tool refills you to max and adds one more full bar of games.
- Multiply the missing energy by the estimated minutes per point: 10 for free players and 6 for members.
Estimated Max Energy by Wizard Level

Energy Budget Example: Level 80 Wizard, Adult Pet
A level 80 wizard wears gear with +20 energy and has 60 energy now. The pet is an Adult, so each game costs 8. The player is not a member.
Max energy: the estimate for level 80 is 84, plus 20 from gear, for 104.
Games now: 60 / 8 = 7.5, rounded down to 7 games. That leaves 4 energy, which is too little for game 8.
Games per bar: 104 / 8 = 13 games.
With an elixir: after the 7 games, the elixir refills to 104 for 13 more. That is 20 games in one sitting.
Timing (estimate): without the elixir, the next game is about 40 minutes away (4 points at 10 minutes each). A full refill from 4 takes about 16 hours 40 minutes.
In plain terms: play 7 games now, or drink the elixir and play 20. Then come back tomorrow.
Factors That Change Your Games per Bar
Games per bar depend on two numbers: your max energy and the cost per game. Timing depends on the regen rate.
Pet Stage
An Ultra game costs 14, which is 3.5 times a Teen game at 4. The same 100 energy pays for 25 Teen games but only 7 Ultra games.
Max Energy
A bigger globe means more games per bar and fewer trips back. Gear bonus adds straight onto your max.
Membership (estimate)
This page assumes 1 energy every 6 minutes for members and every 10 minutes for free players. We found no official source for these rates, so treat all times as estimates.
Energy Elixirs
The calculator counts an elixir as one instant refill to your max, not a faster regen rate.
Leftover Energy
Energy below one game's cost cannot be used at that stage. It still counts toward the next refill.
Energy Elixir vs Waiting for Regen
An elixir buys time: one full bar of games right now instead of hours of waiting. How much time it saves depends on your max energy.
| Max energy | Teen games per bar (4) | Adult games per bar (8) | Ultra games per bar (14) | Wait for a full bar, free (est.) | Wait for a full bar, member (est.) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 50 | 12 | 6 | 3 | 8h 20m | 5h 0m |
| 80 | 20 | 10 | 5 | 13h 20m | 8h 0m |
| 100 | 25 | 12 | 7 | 16h 40m | 10h 0m |
| 120 | 30 | 15 | 8 | 20h 0m | 12h 0m |
| 150 | 37 | 18 | 10 | 25h 0m | 15h 0m |
The larger your globe, the more one elixir is worth. Drink it after you spend your energy, not before, or the refill is partly wasted.
When to Use the Energy Calculator
Before You Log In
Check how many games your energy pays for, so you know how long the session will be.
When Deciding on an Elixir
Compare the games an elixir adds with the hours you would wait. It is worth most when your pet is close to a new talent. Preview likely talents with the pet talent calculator.
When Your Pet Changes Stage
Costs jump from 4 to 8 at Adult. Re-run the numbers so your plan still fits your energy.
When Choosing Which Wizard Trains
In our estimate table, higher levels have a larger max energy, so they fit more games per bar. Type the real max for each wizard to compare.
Common Energy Mistakes
1. Drinking an Elixir at Full Energy
In the model this calculator uses, the elixir refills you to max, so at full energy it adds nothing. Spend your energy first, then drink it.
2. Leaving Out Your Gear Bonus
Gear energy adds onto your max. Leave it out and the tool undercounts your games per bar.
3. Using the Wrong Stage Cost
Adult games cost twice what Teen games do. A plan made at Teen runs out early after the pet grows.
4. Trusting the Level Estimate Over Your Globe
The level table is an estimate. Your globe's max is always right, so type it in when you can.
5. Spending High-XP Snacks at Cheap Stages
A Ravenwood Academy community guide suggests saving your best snacks for later, costlier stages, so fewer expensive games are needed. To see how pets grow over those stages, read how Wizard101 pet stats work.
Accuracy and Limitations
Game counts are exact for the energy numbers you enter. Max energy from the level table and every time shown are estimates.
What it calculates accurately
- Games you can afford from a given energy amount
- Games per full bar for a given max energy
- Teen 4, Adult 8 and Ultra 14 energy per game, from Ravenwood Academy
- The extra bar an elixir adds, as the tool models it
What it does not account for
- The exact regen rate (10 and 6 minutes are page estimates)
- Your exact max energy when you use the level table
- Costs for Baby, Ancient, Epic and Mega unless you enter them
- Whether energy is shared across wizards on one account (not confirmed)
How We Estimate Your Energy Budget
Frequently Asked Questions About Pet Training Energy
How many pet games can I play with 100 energy?
You can play 25 Teen games, 12 Adult games or 7 Ultra games. Those use Ravenwood Academy's 4, 8 and 14 energy per game.
How much energy does an Adult pet game cost?
An Adult pet game costs 8 energy, per Ravenwood Academy. A Teen game costs 4 and an Ultra game costs 14.
What does an Energy Elixir do in this calculator?
It counts as one instant refill to your max energy after you spend what you have. The tool adds one full bar of games, not a faster regen rate.
How long does energy take to refill?
This page estimates 1 energy every 10 minutes for free players and every 6 minutes for members. A 100-energy refill is then about 16 hours 40 minutes free, or 10 hours as a member.
Are the regen rates official?
No. We found no official source for them, so every time on this page is an estimate. Check your own globe over an hour to measure your real rate.
Why does my max energy differ from the estimate?
The level table is our estimate and gear bonuses vary. Type the max from your energy globe into the optional box for an exact budget.
What if my pet is Baby, Ancient, Epic or Mega?
Pick Other stage and type the energy per game your game shows. Our sources list only Teen, Adult and Ultra costs.
Is energy shared between wizards on the same account?
We could not confirm it from a reliable source. Check your energy globe when you switch wizards.
Should I drink an elixir now or later?
Drink it after you spend your current energy. In this calculator the elixir refills you to max, so drinking it at full energy adds nothing.
Is my data saved?
No. The calculator runs in your browser and nothing is sent to our servers. Anything you choose to Save stays in this browser only.
