Daily protein equals body weight in kilograms multiplied by a goal-specific grams-per-kilogram range. Pounds are converted to kilograms before the calculation.
Daily protein = weight in kilograms × protein factor
Protein per meal = daily protein ÷ number of protein meals
A 150-pound woman weighs about 68.0 kilograms. For strength training at 1.6 to 2.0 g/kg, the calculation is 68.0 × 1.6 to 68.0 × 2.0. The result is about 109 to 136 grams daily.
With four meals, 109 to 136 grams becomes about 27 to 34 grams per meal. Real meals do not need to match perfectly. The daily pattern and regular distribution matter more than hitting the same number every time.
The adult protein RDA is 0.8 g/kg. The RDA is designed to meet the needs of nearly all healthy adults, but it is not an athletic target. Sports guidance commonly uses 1.4 to 2.0 or 2.2 g/kg for active people, depending on training and energy intake.

These ranges are not a tolerable upper limit. The National Academies did not establish a protein upper limit for healthy adults, but that does not mean unlimited intake is useful or safe for every person.
A target range is more honest than one exact number. Body-weight selection, food tracking, training load, digestion, and actual energy intake can each create more error than a few grams of protein.
How to Spread Women's Protein Across Meals
Divide the daily range across three to five eating times that fit your schedule. Active women may also use a serving near training.
The 2023 female-athlete position stand suggests about 0.32 to 0.38 g/kg close to exercise and even distribution every 3 to 4 hours. At 65 kg, that workout serving is about 21 to 25 grams.

Pregnancy uses 1.1 to 1.4 g/kg in this planning tool, with the DRI value at the lower end. Breastfeeding uses 1.3 to 1.6 g/kg. Multiple pregnancy, pregnancy complications, poor fetal growth, diabetes, kidney disease, or a prescribed diet requires individualized care.
A large calorie deficit is not appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless a clinician directs it. The calculator will ignore the deficit adjustment and display a warning for these life stages.
