X (Twitter) Audience Quality Calculator

Quick answer

The X (Twitter) audience quality calculator shows what kind of engagement your audience gives. It adds your replies, reposts, quotes and bookmarks, divides by all engagements and multiplies by 100. It also shows each action as a share and engagements per 1,000 followers per post. Every figure comes from your own counts, with no composite score.

How to Use the X Audience Quality Calculator

The calculator needs five totals for one period: likes, replies, reposts, quotes and bookmarks. Each one appears in the analytics for your own posts.

  1. Pick one period, such as the last 28 days, and note which posts fall inside it.
  2. Add up likes, replies, reposts, quotes and bookmarks across those posts and type the five totals.
  3. Add your follower count and the number of posts to see engagements per 1,000 followers per post.
  4. Type the share beyond likes from an earlier period of the same length to see the trend.
ResultWhat it means
Share of engagements beyond likesReplies, reposts, quotes and bookmarks as a percent of all five actions.
Reply shareReplies as a percent of all five actions.
Repost and quote shareReposts plus quotes as a percent of all five actions.
Bookmark shareBookmarks as a percent of all five actions.
Like shareLikes as a percent of all five actions.
EngagementsAll five actions per post for every 1,000 followers.
Change on earlier shareShare beyond likes now, minus the earlier share you typed, in percentage points.

What Is Audience Quality on X?

Audience quality on X describes what your audience does with your posts, as opposed to how large the audience is. X has no metric with that name and publishes no quality score. This page uses the term for the mix of actions your audience takes.

The X developer documentation, read on October 3, 2026, defines the counts behind the mix:

  • Likes: the like count of a post.
  • Replies: the reply count of a post.
  • Reposts: the number of reposts. The count does not include quote posts.
  • Quotes: the number of quote posts, which are reposts with a comment.
  • Bookmarks: the number of times users bookmarked the post.

Each action asks something different of a reader. A like takes one tap. A reply or a quote means writing words. A repost shares the post with the reader's own followers, as X Help describes it. A bookmark saves the post for later. The mix shows which of these your audience chooses.

The page does not rank one action above another, and it does not judge whether followers are real. A hand audit of followers sits on the fake follower percentage calculator.

How Does the Audience Quality Calculator Work?

Formula: Share beyond likes = (replies + reposts + quotes + bookmarks) / all engagements x 100
Action share = that action / all engagements x 100
Engagements per 1,000 followers per post = all engagements / posts / followers x 1,000
  1. The tool adds likes, replies, reposts, quotes and bookmarks to get all engagements.
  2. It subtracts likes and divides the rest by all engagements for the share beyond likes.
  3. It divides replies, reposts plus quotes, bookmarks and likes by all engagements in turn.
  4. It divides all engagements by posts, then by followers, and multiplies by 1,000.
  5. It subtracts your earlier share from the current share and shows the gap in points.

The four action shares always add up to 100%, apart from rounding. A blank field counts as zero.

Audience Quality Example

Example values only. An account with 12,000 followers published 20 posts in 28 days. Those posts collected 3,600 likes, 440 replies, 520 reposts, 80 quotes and 360 bookmarks. The earlier share beyond likes was 25%.

  • All engagements = 3,600 + 440 + 520 + 80 + 360 = 5,000.
  • Beyond likes = 440 + 520 + 80 + 360 = 1,400, and 1,400 / 5,000 x 100 = 28.0%.
  • Reply share = 440 / 5,000 x 100 = 8.8%.
  • Repost and quote share = 600 / 5,000 x 100 = 12.0%.
  • Bookmark share = 360 / 5,000 x 100 = 7.2%.
  • Like share = 3,600 / 5,000 x 100 = 72.0%.
  • Engagements = 5,000 / 20 / 12,000 x 1,000 = 20.8 per 1,000 followers per post.
  • Change on earlier share = 28.0 - 25 = +3.0 points.

Likes still make up most of the activity. The part that takes more effort grew by 3 points, and reposts and quotes are the largest piece of it.

Factors That Change Your Engagement Mix

The Kind of Post

A question draws replies. A reference list draws bookmarks. A strong opinion draws quotes. The mix for a period follows the kinds of posts you published in it.

One Post That Travels Far

A widely seen post often collects likes from people outside your audience. Add 1,400 likes to the example and the share beyond likes drops from 28.0% to 21.9%, with no change in what regular readers did.

How Reposts and Quotes Are Counted

The X developer documentation states that the repost count does not include quote posts. Enter the two separately, or the repost and quote share comes out too low.

Replies You Write Yourself

An answer you post under your own post is a reply too. Leave your own replies out when you tally by hand.

Clicks Are Left Out

The X Ads glossary says engagements include all clicks on a post. This page uses only the five public actions, so its total is smaller than the engagements figure in analytics. Rates that include clicks are on the X engagement rate calculator.

Engagement Mix vs Engagement Rate

Engagement mix shows which actions your audience takes, and engagement rate shows how many actions they take per impression or follower. One describes the shape, the other the size.

When to Use an Audience Quality Calculator

Monthly Account Review

Record the four shares each month. A slow drift, such as replies falling while likes rise, shows up long before the total changes.

Comparing Two Formats

Enter the totals for threads, save the result, then enter the totals for single posts. The shares remove the difference in volume.

Checking a Sponsor Report

A report that lists only total engagements hides the mix. Ask for the five counts and run them here.

After a Change in Style

A new posting style changes what readers do. Compare the period after the change with the one before it. To study quotes on their own, use the quote post impact calculator.

Common Audience Quality Mistakes

1. Trusting a Quality Score

A 0 to 100 score needs weights, such as replies counting 1.5 times a like. X publishes no weights, so the score reflects its author.

2. Guessing a Fake Follower Percent

Older tools asked you to type an estimate of fake followers and then scored it. A guess in gives a guess out.

3. Comparing with Published Averages

X publishes no average mix or rate. Figures quoted online come from samples of other accounts.

4. Merging Reposts and Quotes by Accident

The two counts are separate. Adding only one of them understates sharing.

5. Mixing Periods

Likes for 90 days next to replies for 28 days distorts every share. Use one period for all five counts.

6. Calling Likes Worthless

A like is a real action by a real reader. The mix describes behaviour and does not rank readers.

Accuracy and Limitations

Each share is exact for the counts you enter. The shares describe actions, and they do not measure who the people are.

What it calculates accurately

  • The share of engagements beyond likes.
  • Reply, repost and quote, bookmark and like shares.
  • Engagements per 1,000 followers per post.
  • The change between two periods of your own data.

What it does not account for

  • Whether followers are real or active.
  • Clicks, profile visits and poll votes.
  • The tone or content of replies and quotes.
  • Any benchmark from other accounts. None is published.

Small totals swing widely. With fewer than about 100 engagements, one busy post can move a share by several points.

How We Calculate Audience Quality

Method
Share beyond likes = (replies + reposts + quotes + bookmarks) / all engagements x 100. Each action is also divided by all engagements alone.
Follower ratio
All engagements / posts / followers x 1,000.
No composite score
The shares are shown side by side and never weighted. No rating bands are applied.
Inputs used
Your own counts from your post analytics. Presets are example values.
Verdict
Green or amber from the change on your own earlier share. Blue when no earlier share is entered. No benchmark is used.
Rounding
Percents and rates per 1,000 to 1 decimal.
Edge cases
A blank count is treated as zero. A total of zero gives no result. The follower ratio needs followers and posts above zero.

Frequently Asked Questions About X Audience Quality

Does X have an audience quality score?

No. X reports counts such as likes, replies, reposts, quotes and bookmarks. It publishes no audience quality score, so any score shown elsewhere uses weights its author chose.

How do I measure audience quality on X?

Look at the mix of actions. Add replies, reposts, quotes and bookmarks, divide by all engagements and multiply by 100. Track that share against your own earlier periods.

What is a good share of engagements beyond likes?

X publishes no good or average figure. The share depends on the kinds of posts you publish. Compare your result with your own earlier period of the same length.

Are reposts and quotes counted together on X?

No. The X developer documentation says the repost count does not include quote posts. A quote is a repost with a comment and has its own count.

Can other people see who bookmarked my post?

No. X Help states that bookmarks are private and only visible to the account that saved the post. You see the total only.

Why is my total lower than engagements in analytics?

The analytics figure includes clicks. The X Ads glossary says engagements include all clicks on a post. This page adds only likes, replies, reposts, quotes and bookmarks.

Does a high reply share help my posts get recommended?

This page makes no claim about that. X Help says recommendations use a variety of signals and publishes no weights, so the calculator does not guess them.

Can this calculator detect fake followers?

No. It reads only the counts you type. It cannot see an account, so it cannot tell a real follower from a fake one.

Can I use it for a single post?

Yes. Enter the five counts for that post and set posts to 1. Shares from one post swing more than shares from a full period.

Is my data saved?

No. The maths runs in your browser and nothing is sent to us. Save keeps a result only in this browser.
