What the WhatsApp Business Broadcast Cost Calculator Estimates

This tool is for WhatsApp Business Platform template campaigns. You can estimate one send or a monthly plan, combine two recipient markets, and include list-rate discounts, provider fees, and tax.

The calculator separates delivered-message charges from provider costs. It also shows your effective rate, tier savings, cost per attempted message, and largest cost driver. These outputs support campaign approval, vendor comparison, and break-even planning.

The tool does not quote the WhatsApp Business app. App broadcasts can have different eligibility and pricing rules. Use the WhatsApp calculators hub to find tools for conversion, automation, staffing, and return on investment.

How to Calculate WhatsApp Broadcast Cost

You calculate broadcast cost by multiplying attempted recipients by delivery rate, send frequency, and price per delivered message. You then add provider charges and tax.

    1. Define the audience. Count only contacts who should receive the template and have a valid opt-in.
    2. Estimate delivery. Divide delivered messages by attempted messages for recent, comparable sends.
    3. Choose the market. Use the recipient’s country or regional rate-card market.
    4. Choose the category. Select marketing, utility, or authentication based on the approved template.
    5. Add your provider costs. Include markup and fixed platform charges that your provider actually bills.
    6. Apply tax once. Confirm whether tax is already included in the quote.
    Monthly broadcast cost formula

Delivered messages = Audience × Delivery rate × Broadcast frequency

    Total = ((Delivered messages × Rate) × (1 + Provider markup)) + Fixed fee, then × (1 + Tax rate)

Suppose you target 10,000 people four times each month and expect 92% delivery. The model counts 36,800 delivered messages. At $0.025 per delivered marketing message, your base message charge is $920 before provider fees and tax.

If you need the number of orders required to recover this spend, use the broadcast break-even calculator after you save this cost estimate.

How WhatsApp Business Pricing Works in 2026

Meta charges Business Platform messages when they are delivered. The charge depends on the recipient market and message category. Marketing, utility, authentication, authentication international, and service conditions can produce different costs.

Service replies inside the 24-hour customer service window are free. Utility messages sent in response to users can also be free when they meet Meta’s rules. Messages sent within 72 hours after a qualifying Click-to-WhatsApp ad or Facebook Page call-to-action entry point are not charged.

Meta states that delivered messages are priced by recipient market and category. It also documents free service replies, qualifying utility responses, 72-hour free entry points, and volume tiers for utility and authentication messages. Review current Meta pricing rules.

Template classification is controlled by Meta. Your message purpose and approved template must match the category selected in this calculator.

Country and Message Category Reference Rates

The tool loads selected USD list-rate references for January 2026. Meta’s current selector remains the authority, and you should replace the loaded value whenever your active rate differs.

    Selected USD list-rate references
    MarketMarketingUtilityAuthenticationAuth. international
    North America$0.0250$0.0034$0.0034Not listed
    India$0.0118$0.0014$0.0014$0.0280

    United Arab Emirates$0.0499$0.0157$0.0157$0.0510
    Saudi Arabia$0.0455$0.0107$0.0107$0.0598
    South Africa$0.0379$0.0076$0.0076$0.0200

    Worked Example: Monthly Marketing Broadcast

You can estimate a four-send marketing plan for 25,000 North American recipients by calculating delivered volume first and adding provider charges afterward.

Enter 25,000 recipients, a 94% delivery rate, and four broadcasts. The campaign attempts 100,000 messages and models 94,000 delivered messages. With the January 2026 North America marketing reference rate of $0.025, the base message cost is $2,350.

Now add a 10% provider markup. The variable provider fee becomes $235, which brings the messaging subtotal to $2,585. If your platform also costs $199 per month, the pre-tax total reaches $2,784. An 8% tax adds $222.72, so the modeled monthly cost becomes $3,006.72.

    Worked example breakdown
    ComponentCalculationAmount
    Delivered messages25,000 × 94% × 494,000
    Base charge94,000 × $0.025$2,350.00
    Provider markup$2,350 × 10%$235.00
    Fixed feeMonthly allocation$199.00
    Tax$2,784 × 8%$222.72
    TotalAll components$3,006.72

This example separates each charge so you can audit a vendor quote. It does not assume campaign revenue. For that comparison, move the total into the WhatsApp Business API ROI calculator.

How to Add Provider Fees, Markups, and Tax

You should add only charges that apply to the same period and campaign scope. Separate variable markup, fixed fees, implementation costs, and tax so you do not count one charge twice.

A business solution provider may add a percentage markup, fixed subscription, per-message surcharge, or bundled fee to Meta’s messaging charge.

Enter percentage markup and fixed monthly costs in their labeled fields. If your provider charges a flat amount per message, add it to the editable message rate.

Implementation, CRM, automation, agent-seat, and creative costs are not automatically messaging fees. Include them only when your decision requires a complete campaign budget. You can allocate a shared monthly platform fee by campaign volume or by the portion of the platform used for this broadcast.

Taxes depend on your billing entity and location. Check the invoice basis before entering VAT, GST, or sales tax. If a quoted price already includes tax, keep the tax field at zero.

How to Control Your WhatsApp Broadcast Budget

You can control cost by improving list quality, choosing the correct template category, limiting unnecessary sends, and measuring cost per business result.

Use the result actions to move your total into the break-even calculator or compare WhatsApp with SMS. This keeps the next decision connected to the current estimate.

    Common WhatsApp Broadcast Cost Mistakes

The most common errors come from using the wrong market, category, billing unit, or delivery assumption. You can prevent them by documenting each input beside the provider quote.
