TL;DR
- Post 3–5 times per week for the best balance of reach and quality.
- Keep gaps under 3 days to avoid algorithm suppression.
- A consistency score of 70+ puts you in the strong-growth zone.
- Watch time completion above 50% gives you 6.2× more distribution.
- TikTok's average engagement rate was 3.70% in 2025, up 49% from 2024.
What Does a Consistency Calculator Measure?
The TikTok content consistency impact calculator measures how regularly you post videos and shows the effect on your growth. It takes four factors — posting frequency, gap length, watch time, and engagement rate — and turns them into one score from 0 to 100.
Creators use this tool to answer one question: Is my posting schedule helping or hurting my growth? Brand managers use it to plan content calendars. Social media agencies use it to compare client accounts.
How Consistency Differs from Content Quality
Consistency means showing up on a regular schedule. Quality means making videos that hold attention. The TikTok algorithm needs both. A high-quality video posted once a month still underperforms a decent video posted four times a week, according to Pentos Q4 2025 data.
The calculator scores your schedule alone. You handle the quality. Together, both inputs decide how far each video travels on the For You Page. You can also use the TikTok FYP Score Calculator to measure how well individual videos perform once they are posted.

How Does the Consistency Score Formula Work?
The score combines four weighted inputs into one number from 0 to 100.
Formula (plain English):
- Posting Frequency Score (35 pts max): Posts per week divided by 7, capped at 1.0, multiplied by 35.
- Gap Penalty Score (25 pts max): Starts at 25. Subtract 3 points for each day the longest gap exceeds 3 days.
- Watch Time Score (25 pts max): Watch-time completion % divided by 100, multiplied by 25.
- Engagement Score (15 pts max): Engagement rate divided by 10, capped at 1.0, multiplied by 15.
Add all four scores together. Then multiply by the niche factor and the posting-time factor. The result is your final consistency score.
Example: A creator posts 4 times per week, longest gap is 2 days, watch time is 55%, and engagement is 4.5%.
- Frequency: (4 ÷ 7) × 35 = 20 pts
- Gap: 25 pts (no penalty, gap = 2 days)
- Watch Time: (55 ÷ 100) × 25 = 13.75 pts
- Engagement: (4.5 ÷ 10) × 15 = 6.75 pts
- Total: 65.5 × 1.0 × 1.0 = Score: 66
| Factor | Max Points | How It Is Measured | Benchmark Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Posting Frequency | 35 | Posts per week ÷ 7 | 5–7 posts/week |
| Gap Penalty | 25 | -3 pts per day over 3-day gap | Max gap: 3 days |
| Watch Time Completion | 25 | Average completion % ÷ 100 | 50%+ completion |
| Engagement Rate | 15 | Eng. rate % ÷ 10 | 3.70% average (2025) |
| Niche Multiplier | Modifier | Category-based factor | 1.0–1.18× |
| Timing Factor | Modifier | Schedule quality | 0.85–1.12× |

How Do I Use This Calculator Step by Step?
Each field takes one piece of data from your TikTok account. Fill them in order from top to bottom.
Posts per week: Count all videos you posted in the past 30 days. Divide by 4.3 to get the weekly average. Enter that number. A value of 0 is valid if you are just starting out.
Weeks posting consistently: This is how many weeks in a row you have kept your current pace. If you took a two-week break last month, count from when you restarted.
Longest gap: Scroll your TikTok grid and find the two posts that were farthest apart in the last 30 days. Count the days between them. That is your gap.
Watch time completion: Find this in TikTok Analytics → Content → Video Performance. It is labelled "Average Watch Time." Divide it by your video's total length and multiply by 100 to get a percentage.
Engagement rate: The slider goes from 0.1% to 30%. The platform average for brands was 3.70% in 2025. Nano creators (under 10K) often see 7–16%. Enter your real number, not a target.
Once all fields are filled, click Calculate My Consistency Impact. Your score, projected growth, and AI insight appear instantly. You can also try the TikTok Algorithm Favorability Score Calculator to see how the full algorithm rates your account, not just your schedule.

How Does Posting Frequency Change TikTok Reach?
Posting frequency is the single biggest driver of the consistency score. TikTok's algorithm reads it as a signal of account health. More posts give the algorithm more content to test with different audience segments.
How Frequency Affects Median Views Per Video
| Posts Per Week | Median Viewers/Video | vs. Once a Week | Score Range |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1×/week | 800 | Baseline | 0–30 |
| 2×/week | 1,400 | +75% | 31–45 |
| 3–4×/week | 2,400 | +200% | 46–64 |
| 5–7×/week | 5,200 | +550% | 65–80 |
| 2+/day | 4,100 | +413% | 75–88 |
| 4+/day | 3,600 | +350% (quality dilution) | 85–100 |
Posting more than twice per day can lower per-video reach slightly. Quality dilution happens when you publish so often that individual video quality drops. The 5–7 posts per week sweet spot gives the highest reach without hurting quality.
When Consistency Beats Virality
A creator who posts 5 videos a week for 8 weeks builds a back-catalogue of 40 videos. Each video keeps collecting views over time. Catalogue size multiplies passive reach. One viral video brings a spike. Consistent posting builds a floor.

What Do Real Creator Scenarios Look Like?
The three examples below show how different posting habits produce different consistency scores and growth projections.
Example 1: New Creator — Just Getting Started
Inputs: 200 followers, 2 posts per week, 2 weeks active, 4-day max gap, 35% watch time, 5% engagement, General niche, Somewhat consistent timing.
Output: Consistency score ≈ 42 / 100. Rating: Developing. Projected +followers in 30 days: ~28. Engagement multiplier: 0.94×.
Insight: The score is held back by the low posting frequency and long gap. Raising posts to 4/week and cutting the gap to 2 days would push the score to ~60.
Example 2: Growing Creator — Building Momentum
Inputs: 12,000 followers, 5 posts per week, 10 weeks active, 2-day max gap, 55% watch time, 6.2% engagement, Comedy niche, Always at peak hours.
Output: Consistency score ≈ 85 / 100. Rating: Excellent. Projected +followers in 30 days: ~1,540. Engagement multiplier: 1.43×.
Insight: Peak-hour posting adds a 1.12× boost. The comedy niche multiplier (1.15×) pushes the score into the Excellent tier. Keep the gap under 2 days to protect this rating.
Example 3: Established Creator — Monetization Focus
Inputs: 85,000 followers, 6 posts per week, 24 weeks active, 1-day max gap, 68% watch time, 4.1% engagement, Finance/Education niche, Always at peak hours.
Output: Consistency score ≈ 92 / 100. Rating: Elite. Projected +followers in 30 days: ~7,650. Engagement multiplier: 1.61×.
Downstream calculation: At 85,000 followers with 92/100 consistency, estimated brand deal value rises by ~38% above the baseline rate for that follower count. A creator normally earning $800 per post at 85K followers could charge approximately $1,104 per post. To calculate your exact brand deal value, use the TikTok Brand Deal Value Calculator.

How Can I Improve My Consistency Score?
- Batch-create content. Film 4–6 videos in one session to build a buffer for busy weeks.
- Set a posting schedule in TikTok Creator Tools. The scheduler posts at the exact time you set, even when you sleep.
- Target 5 posts per week. This frequency hits the highest median reach tier (5,200 viewers/video) per Pentos 2025.
- Keep gaps under 3 days. Every day past 3 with no post costs 3 points on your gap score.
- Improve your hook. The first 2 seconds decide if viewers swipe. A better hook raises completion rate and adds more points to your watch-time score.
- Post at peak hours. Check Follower Analytics in TikTok Creator Tools to find when your audience is online. Consistent timing adds a 1.12× multiplier.
- Pick a niche and stick to it. Mixed-topic accounts confuse the algorithm. A defined niche raises your niche multiplier and helps the algorithm match you with the right viewers.
- Reply to comments fast. Replies in the first 30 minutes after posting boost total engagement and raise your engagement score component.

What Mistakes Kill Your TikTok Consistency?
- Posting in bursts then going silent. Three videos on Monday followed by nothing until Friday drops your gap score by 6 points.
- Chasing trends instead of building a schedule. Trend-only accounts post irregularly. The algorithm sees an inconsistent pattern and lowers distribution.
- Deleting videos after low views. Deleted videos break your catalogue. The algorithm loses data about your content history.
- Changing niche suddenly. A dance creator who switches to finance confuses the algorithm's audience-matching. It takes weeks to rebuild reach.
- Posting at random times. Inconsistent timing gives no schedule signal. Your consistency score loses the 1.12× timing multiplier.
- Ignoring watch time. A creator can post daily but score low if videos lose viewers in the first 3 seconds. Watch time is worth 25 of 100 points.
- Forgetting to check analytics. Without data, you cannot know your real completion rate or engagement rate. You end up entering guesses into this calculator.
