The score adds four weighted components. Each one is capped, so no single input can carry the whole result.
The Time Investment Formula
The cost side is straightforward arithmetic. It counts only the snaps you send, not the ones you receive.
Why Streak Longevity Uses a Logarithmic Curve
Longevity is the only component that does not scale in a straight line. It runs through a base-10 logarithm, which means early days count for much more than later ones.
Going from day 10 to day 100 adds about 5 points, moving longevity from 5.5 to 10.5. Going from day 1000 to day 1100 adds nothing at all. That matches how streaks actually behave. The first hundred days prove two people are consistent, while day 1100 mostly proves the habit has not been interrupted.
The divisor log10(731) sets the curve so that longevity reaches the full 15 points at day 730, which is exactly two years. Every streak longer than that receives the same 15 points.
Why cap it at two years? Past that point, extra days stop telling you anything new about the friendship. Capping longevity means a five-year streak cannot coast to a respectable score on age alone. It has to earn the remaining 85 points from conversation, replies, and offline contact like every other streak.

Methodology and Assumptions
Being direct about this matters more than making the tool sound authoritative.
The weights are an editorial framework, not an empirical finding. No published study assigns point values to streak quality, reply rate, or offline contact. The 35 / 25 / 25 / 15 split reflects a defensible argument that conversation depth and off-platform contact say more about a friendship than a day counter does. Reasonable people could weight it differently.
Every input is self-reported. The calculator cannot check your reply rate or verify your conversation quality. If you round your own answers upward, the score rises with them.
Time is estimated, not measured. Snapchat does not expose per-friend time data, so hours invested is an estimate built from your own average. Treat it as an order of magnitude, not a stopwatch reading.
Received snaps are excluded. Only snaps you send count toward the time cost, since you control that side.
The score is not a recommendation. It does not tell you to keep or drop anything. A low score on a streak with someone going through a hard stretch means very little.

A Snap Streak appears when you and a friend each send a photo or video Snap every day. Snapchat's own support pages are explicit that both people have to send, and that a text-only Chat message does not count.1

What Happens When a Snapchat Streak Breaks
A streak ends when a day passes without both people sending a Snap. The fire emoji disappears and the count resets.
Snapchat shows an hourglass emoji when a streak is close to ending.2 The company does not publish how much warning that gives you, and the specific hour counts circulating online are not confirmed by Snapchat.
