How to Use the X Premium ROI Calculator

  1. Choose how you pay and enter the price on your own bill. The field starts at the Premium web price X listed on 2026-10-03, and you can overwrite it.
  2. Enter the gains you can measure: content payouts, subscription income and any other income traced to the subscription. Use monthly averages from your own records.
  3. Add the hours the paid features save you and what an hour is worth to you. Read the net gain, the ROI and the break-even line.

What each result tells you:

ResultWhat it means
Net gain per monthAll measured gains minus the cost per month. Negative means the subscription costs more than it returns.
Return on the subscription (ROI)Net gain / cost x 100. An ROI of 100% means you got back twice what you paid.
Cost per monthYour price, or a yearly price divided by 12.
Gains per monthCash gains plus the value of time saved, shown separately.
Net gain and cost for the periodThe monthly figures x the months you chose.
To break even you needThe extra hours saved, or extra gains, needed to cover the cost.

What Is X Premium ROI?

X Premium ROI is the return you get from the paid X subscription, measured against what it costs you. It compares money and time you can trace to the subscription with the price on your bill.

X Premium is the paid subscription from X, formerly sold as Twitter Blue. The X Help Center now uses the name X Premium and refers to the old product as legacy Blue. It has three tiers: Basic, Premium and Premium+.

Why this page shows no reach boost: X states no figure for extra impressions. Its Help Center says only that replies from verified accounts get a slight preference, and that reply prioritization is larger on Premium and largest on Premium+. X adds that it is still testing these levels. A multiplier such as "2x reach" is not an X figure, so this calculator does not use one. Count only gains you can measure in your own account.

How Does the X Premium ROI Calculation Work?

The calculator adds up your monthly gains, subtracts the monthly cost, and divides the result by the cost. Time saved is turned into money with the hourly value you enter.

Formula: ROI = (Gains per month - Cost per month) / Cost per month x 100. Gains = Payouts + Subscription income + Other gains + Hours saved x Hourly value.
  1. Cost per month = the monthly price, or the yearly price / 12.
  2. Cash gains = content payouts + subscription income + other measured gains.
  3. Time value = hours saved x your value of an hour.
  4. Net gain = cash gains + time value - cost per month.
  5. ROI = net gain / cost per month x 100.
  6. Break-even hours = (cost per month - cash gains) / your value of an hour.

Cash gains and time value are kept apart on purpose. Time value is real, but it is a figure you chose. The verdict turns green only when cash gains alone cover the cost.

X Premium ROI Example

Example gains only, not benchmarks. A creator pays 8.00 a month for Premium. Their own records show 42.00 a month in content payouts. They judge that editing posts and seeing fewer ads saves 2 hours a month, and they value an hour at 20.00.

StepResult
Cash gains (42.00 + 0 + 0)42.00
Time value (2 x 20.00)40.00
Gains per month (42.00 + 40.00)82.00
Net gain per month (82.00 - 8.00)74.00
ROI (74.00 / 8.00 x 100)925.0%
Net gain over 12 months (74.00 x 12)888.00
Cost over 12 months (8.00 x 12)96.00

Meaning: cash gains of 42.00 cover the 8.00 cost on their own, so the verdict is green. Without the time value, the net gain is 34.00 a month and the ROI is 425.0%. With no payouts at all, the creator would need 0.4 hours saved a month to break even.

X Premium Cost by Tier

X Premium starts at $3 a month for Basic, $8 for Premium and $40 for Premium+ on the web. These are the prices in the X Help Center on 2026-10-03.

TierPer monthPer yearYear price per monthSaved by paying yearly
Basic$3$32$2.67$4
Premium$8$84$7.00$12
Premium+$40$395$32.92$85

X describes these as starting prices on the web and says local pricing applies. It adds that tax such as VAT and payment method fees come on top, and that the price in your region is shown on the web and in the iOS and Android apps. The last two columns are our arithmetic on the X prices. Always enter the price on your own bill.

X says all subscriptions are non-refundable unless the law requires a refund, and that it offers no free trial of Premium.

Factors That Change Your X Premium ROI

Four things move the result, and the tier decides which gains are possible at all. Features are as listed in the X Help Center on 2026-10-03.

The Tier You Pick

Basic does not include access to the creator programmes, so a Basic subscriber has no payouts to count. Payouts begin at Premium, and only for creators who also meet the other eligibility rules.

Whether You Are Paid at All

X requires at least 500 verified followers and 500,000 Home timeline impressions from verified users in the last 90 days before you can apply for content payouts. Below that, your payout input is zero. Project payouts with the X creator revenue projection calculator.

How You Bill

A yearly Premium plan works out at 7.00 a month against 8.00 on the monthly plan. The same gains give a higher ROI on the lower cost.

How You Value Time

Hours saved times an hourly value can dwarf the cash gains. Use a value you would defend, or leave it blank for a cash-only ROI.

When to Use an X Premium ROI Calculator

Deciding Whether to Renew

You have paid for a few months. Enter your average payouts and the price to see whether the subscription has paid for itself.

Choosing Between Tiers

Run the calculator once per tier with the price of each and the gains you expect from each. Compare the net gain, not the ROI percentage, because a cheap tier can show a high ROI on a small gain.

Checking a Business Case

A team pays for several accounts. Enter the total price and the total measured gains. For returns on other spending, use the general ROI calculator, and find the point where costs are covered with the break-even calculator.

Common X Premium ROI Mistakes

1. Counting a Reach Boost X Never Stated

X gives no number for extra reach. Compare your own impressions before and after subscribing, over equal periods, and count only income that followed.

2. Counting Income You Would Have Earned Anyway

A sponsorship you would have won without the subscription is not a gain from it. Enter only income that depends on Premium.

3. Expecting Payouts on Basic

The Basic tier does not include access to apply for the creator programmes.

4. Using the Web Price for an App Bill

X says local pricing, tax and payment method fees apply. Use the amount actually charged.

5. Judging by ROI Percent Alone

An ROI of 500% on a 3.00 cost is a 15.00 net gain. Look at the money as well.

6. Forgetting That It Is Non-Refundable

A yearly plan lowers the monthly cost, but X says subscriptions are not refunded unless the law requires it.

Accuracy and Limitations

The arithmetic is exact, so the ROI is only as sound as the gains you can really trace to the subscription.

What it calculates accurately

  • Cost per month from a monthly or yearly price
  • Net gain and ROI from the gains you enter
  • Cash gains and time value shown separately
  • The hours or extra gains needed to break even

What it does not account for

  • Any reach, impression or follower boost, because X states no figure
  • Whether you will be accepted into a creator programme
  • Gains you cannot measure, such as credibility
  • Tax on income, price changes and currency conversion

How We Calculate X Premium ROI

Method
Cost per month = price, or yearly price / 12. Gains = payouts + subscription income + other gains + hours saved x hourly value. Net gain = gains - cost. ROI = net gain / cost x 100.
Inputs used
Your billing period, your price, your monthly payouts, subscription income, other gains, hours saved, your hourly value and the months to evaluate.
Official figures
Web prices of $3, $8 and $40 a month and $32, $84 and $395 a year, read in the X Help Center on 2026-10-03. The price field is editable.
Benchmarks
None. No reach boost, payout rate or typical gain is used or shown. Preset gains are labelled examples.
Verdict rule
Green when cash gains alone cover the cost. Amber when the result is positive only with time value. Red when gains are below the cost.
Rounding
Money to cents, ROI to one decimal, break-even hours to one decimal.

Frequently Asked Questions About X Premium ROI

How much does X Premium cost?

On 2026-10-03 the X Help Center listed web prices starting at $3 a month or $32 a year for Basic, $8 a month or $84 a year for Premium, and $40 a month or $395 a year for Premium+. Local pricing, tax and payment method fees can change what you pay.

Is X Premium the same as Twitter Blue?

Yes, it is the renamed product. The X Help Center calls the subscription X Premium and refers to the earlier version as legacy Blue. The slug of this page keeps the old name because people still search for it.

Does X Premium increase my reach?

X states no figure. Its Help Center says replies from verified accounts get a slight preference and that reply prioritization rises with the tier, and that these levels are still being tested. Measure any change in your own analytics.

Which tier do I need to earn payouts?

Premium or higher. X lists access to apply for Original Content Rewards and Creator Subscriptions under the Premium tier, and its eligibility rules name Premium, Premium+ or Premium Business. Basic is not included.

Is the yearly plan worth it?

It lowers the cost per month: 7.00 against 8.00 for Premium, a saving of 12.00 a year at the listed web prices. X says subscriptions are non-refundable unless the law requires it, so the saving comes with a year of commitment.

How do I value the time I save?

Use a figure you would accept for an hour of similar work. The calculator shows cash gains and time value separately, so you can see the result with and without it.

What is a good ROI for X Premium?

There is no official benchmark. Any ROI above 0% means your measured gains exceed the cost. The verdict is green only when cash gains alone cover the cost.

Can I get a refund or a free trial?

X says all subscriptions are non-refundable unless required by law, with prorated treatment in some tier upgrades. It also says it is not offering free trials of Premium at this time.

Does the calculator include tax?

Only if you include it in the price you enter. Income tax on payouts is not included, and this page gives no tax figure.

Is my information saved?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing is sent to our servers. Anything you choose to Save stays in this browser only.
